The APA varsity soccer squad arrived early in the afternoon today at the UNC-Greensboro Team Camp. The Patriots, led by captains Ward Sylvester and Mclean Piner, opened the training with a spirited small-sided game. With the loss of ten seniors, APA is focused on strengthening its back line, and tonight's scrimmage dealt with a refigured cast of defenders, including Sylvester, Tristan Rudolph, Michael Finizio, and Austin Willman. Coaches Steve Logan and Shivar Person have a 15-man squad at camp and APA will play four 60-minute matches over two days. The squad is also scheduled to train twice between the scrimmages. Goalkeeper Michael Mikhail, a sophomore, worked with the goalkeepers, led by coach Joe Crump, the Director of Goalkeeping with Charlotte Soccer Academy. The Patriots will finish the camp with the popular 7v7 tournament Saturday morning. More updates to follow through Saturday.
